Early Saturday morning, we pointed the Xpress 24’ aluminum bay boat 40 miles offshore to the Mississippi FH-7 Reef in search of some of the Gulf’s most exciting reef species — triggerfish, vermilion snapper, American red snapper, and amberjack. The day turned into an action-packed offshore adventure with nonstop bites. We loaded up on triggerfish, pulled in solid American red snapper, and even tangled with some toothy predators that cut us off before we could see what they were.
