Trad Climbing on Doubleissima at The Gunks, NY (One of the best in the Gunks)
In Ben Carlson's recap of climbing 30 5.10 pitches in a day in the Gunks, he describes Doubleissima as "One of the best climbs in the universe". I'm inclined to agree, what a fantastic pitch of climbing. I mistakenly climbed the first pitch of "Ridiculissima" to the start of the second pitch, which is where this video begins. I believe the crux starts just off the ledge, but IMO the whole climb felt pretty consistent. If sustained climbing isn't your thing, yeah, this guy is going the feel pumpy. I severely under estimated the amount of runners, cordage, and draws I would need to adequately protect the climb.
