Forestone Reeds Vs Cane Reeds

Professor P offers another Product Comparison Video! FORESTONE SYNTHETIC REEDS VS. CANE REEDS! Deciding on which Saxophone Reed you should buy can be difficult. Synthetic Reeds offer more consistency and last about ten times longer than natural cane reeds. But, there is a compromise in the tone quality. As with all of my Product Comparison Videos, I cannot convey the "feeling" of playing these various reeds. Every one of them "feels" different, and when YOU play them, you may make your decisions based on the way they feel as much as on the way they sound. Hearing the subtle tone differences is important to me, so I performed the same slow musical passages on each reed. The Digital Audio Recording is dry, with very little compression. The Graphic Equalizer gives the viewer a rough idea of which frequencies are prevalent in each reed. I played a Dave Guardala "Earth Tone" Tenor Saxophone, with a Jody Jazz HR 6* Mouthpiece.
