How I care for my Gongora atropurpurea
Gongora atropurpurea is a typical gongora: it needs bright shade, always be moist but never soggy, it needs heat (I grow all my orchids outdoors). The spike grows from the bottom of the bulb and the plant should be level with the edge of the basket, else the spike may kink. I use 50% bark and the rest is a mix of sphagnum moss, charcoal and sponge rock. The only tricky issue I have encountered personally are the new growths that are very rot prone.
