S-Bahn Hamburg / Historische S-Bahn Hamburg: Fahrten mit dem Museumszug Baureihe 472 am 1.9.2024

English subtitles available – On September 1, 2024, special rides took place with the class 472 heritage train of S-Bahn Hamburg / Historische S-Bahn Hamburg (suburban train system of Hamburg, Germany). Several anniversaries were (post-)celebrated with this event: 40 years of the heritage train (it came into service in 1984), 40 years of DC electric operation on the line to Neugraben, and 100 years of electric operation on the so-called Alstertalbahn, the line from Ohlsdorf to Poppenbüttel. The train has been restored in the colours of the 1970s and 1980s, both in 2nd and in 1st class. Until 2000 suburban trains in Hamburg also offered first class seats. Class 472/473 electric multiple units (EMUs) were put into service in the years 1974–1976 (30 units) and 1982–1984 (32 units). All axles are driven. So the middle cars are also motor cars, and that's why they are listed as class 473. The EMUs are 65.8 meters long. Weight is 114.4 tons. The EMUs have 12 motors of 125 kW each, that's 1500 kW together. Maximum speed is 100 km/h. In the years 2018–2022 trains were successively withdrawn from service.
