Broken Translation Lesson Page: 362 | Lesson: 371 | Surah Al-Furqan 33-43 | Part 19 I Understand the Quran with Ismail Yaşar, Word-Based Translation and Commentary Lessons Meaningful Quran Translation: ﴾33﴿ Indeed, they do not bring you an example (of something that would damage your prophethood, or of something incomprehensible, or of something they deem necessary in you) except that We have brought you the truth and the best explanation. ﴾34﴿ Those who will be gathered into Hell on their faces, that is for you! They are very bad in terms of location and very deviant in terms of their path. In a hadith narrated by Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “On the Day of Judgment, people will be gathered in three categories: one class on foot, one class on horseback, and one class on their faces.” When it was asked, “O Messenger of Allah! How will they be able to walk on their faces?” he said, “Indeed, the One Who is Able to make them walk on their feet is Able to make them walk on their faces. Indeed, they will be in a very difficult situation trying to protect their faces from every bump and thorn.” (at-Tirmidhi, 3142) ﴾35﴿ And We certainly gave Moses the Book (of the Torah) and made his brother Aaron his assistant minister. ﴾36﴿ Thereupon We said, "Go to the people who denied Our revelations." And We destroyed them with an unseen destruction, never to recover. ﴾37﴿ And the people of Noah, when they denied the messengers (and those before him), We drowned them in water and made them for the people. (We have made a great sign, as an example.) Thus We have prepared for the wrongdoers a painful torment. ﴾38﴿ Here it is for you! (We have utterly destroyed) Ad (the people of Hud) and Thamud (the people of Salih) and the people of Rass, and many centuries between them! According to what was narrated from Wahb ibn Munabbih (may Allah be pleased with him), the people of Rass were a people who lived on animal husbandry and worshipped idols. Allah the Almighty sent a message to them through Shu'ayb to invite them to Islam. (Peace be upon him). But they persisted in their transgression and tormented Shu'ayb (Peace be upon him) greatly. Once, while they were living in their houses around their well, which had not been built, it collapsed and they and their homes were submerged. (al-Bayzavi, an-Nasafi, al-Hazin -Macmu'atu't-tefasir-, 4/444) ﴾39﴿ And We made for them (each of them) astonishing examples (to prevent them from disbelief and sins) and We shattered them all in utter disgrace! ﴾40﴿ And indeed, those (members of the Quraysh) were those who were rained down with the rain (of stones) They have surely arrived at the village (called Sedum, the largest of the five destroyed provinces of the people of Lot). Did they not see it (during their journey)?! Indeed, they were disbelievers who had no hope of being resurrected after death. (Therefore, they passed through the places they passed through not with the intention of learning a lesson, but in heedlessness, like the donkeys they rode.) ﴾41﴿ And when those (disbelievers like Abu Jahl) see you, they take you only for ridicule. (They say, in mockery of you,) "Is this the one whom Allah sent as a messenger?! ﴾42﴿ Indeed, (The one who claims to be sent to us strives so hard to turn us away from our religion and embrace Islam that) if we had not held fast to our idols and been patient in their worship, he would surely have come close to leading us astray from our gods. (My Beloved! They claim that you are a misguided and misleading person. But do not think that I will keep them alive for a long time in this false belief.) But very soon, when they see the punishment (which their disbelief will bring), they will know who is very far astray in the path. ﴾43﴿ Have you seen the one who has taken his evil desire for a god (and has not sought any evidence in the most important matter of worship and has not followed what has been said)? (He has chosen as his lord whoever he pleases, without hearing)?! So will you be a guardian for him (who has chosen to go astray by his own will) (and guide him to the right path by preventing him from polytheism and sins)?!
