Knitted Art and Five More Wool Breeds // Casual Friday S6E11
This week's Casual Friday podcast has Tidbits, a tour through Vol. 12 of Weldon's Practical Needlework (1897), and the knitted results of the next five wools in my breed study of handspun wools. Support me by buying me a coffee on Ko-fi! https://www.ko-fi.com/roxannerichardson My knitting designs: https://www.ravelry.com/designers/rox... The sweater I'm wearing is the 1960s installment (sweaters knit from 1890s to 1990s.) The yarn is vintage, and the pattern leaflet came in a kit. WELDON'S PRACTICAL NEEDLEWORK VOL. 12 This volume contained the following issues on knitting Knitted and Crocheted Waistcoats, Series 1 Practical Knitter, Series 34 and 35 Practical Stocking Knitter, Series 6 Digitized copies of Weldon's can be found here: https://shop.longthreadmedia.com Search for Weldon's. BREED STUDY This week's breeds are Icelandic, Eider, Suffolk, Corriedale and Herdwick. I carded the Suffolk and spun using a supported long draw. All were 2-ply, except the Corriedale, which was chain-plied to produce a 3-ply yarn. I bought my 30-breed sampler pack from Woolgatherings on etsy, but there are lots of sellers offering samplers of various breeds. 0:00 Introduction 0:28 Tidbit #1 Recycled Reef 2:11 Tidbit #2 Knitted Buckingham Palace 3:34 Tidbit #3 Leave Me Alone! 4:58 Tidbit #4 Same Philosophy, Different Craft 8:04 Contact info 11:58 Weldon's 26:57 Breed Study If you have questions about this video, or suggestions for future videos, please let me know down in the comments or on social media.
