This movie (1981) by Sri Pervez Merwanji features Sri Chirakkal T Sreedharan Nair (1909 -1984) and his Sree Bharath Kalari (estd.1948), Valapattanam, Kannur. Sri SRD Prasad, his son has been following his father's footsteps and has to his credit few books on the subject. Sri Sridharan Nair is credited with publishing the first book on the subject (1937). An English language edition is available from westland books pvt. ltd., Chennai. Sri Nair was for nine years the Kalaripayattu teacher at YMCA, Chennai. He along with another Kalaripayattu stalwart Sri CVN Nair were to have engaged in an ankham (duel to death) but for the timely intervention of the district authorities.
