Climbing Up a Mountain to Visit the Grave of a Fijian Warrior. 🇫🇯

I’m on the Vatia Peninsula on the northern coast of Viti Levu, Fiji’s main island. Now, climbing a small mountain to visit the grave of a Fijian warrior may be a little strenuous and tiring. But to be linked with a moment in time with ancient Fijian history and to gasp in wonder at the incredible view makes the whole thing worthwhile. The warrior was buried up there as a last wish. His people obliged. Why? Why so high up? It is a mystery from ground level. But, from up top, everything makes perfect sense.
