Embedded con i talebani

"Zanda bad Emirate islami," shout the Taliban in combat gear who have conquered Afghanistan. It's not easy to be "embedded" with the country's new masters, but once accepted, they even pose for a photograph. "I was born a Taliban," begins Maulawi commander Mohammed Sharif Amadi. At 46, he has been fighting with Mullah Omar's followers since the first Islamic Emirate. With a pitch-black beard and matching turban, he is a war orphan. "My father took up arms in the jihad of the 1980s, but was killed by the Russians," Amadi says. He adds, "My whole family is Taliban. I'm proud to be the first to carry the torch, fighting against the Americans." Reportage by Fausto Biloslavo
