Anja (name changed) experienced sexual violence for many years. Her family didn't believe her, charges were repeatedly dropped, and perpetrators continued to exploit her vulnerability. Eventually, she began to question her own perceptions. She vividly describes the dynamic of threats and guilt: She was led to believe that she had to endure abuse to protect others. In her desperation, she resorted to extreme strategies to make her boundaries visible—even resorting to self-harm and desperate thoughts about her own body. Life after sexual violence is a constant struggle—marked by memories, pain, and deeply held beliefs. Anja advocates for greater societal awareness and for spaces where survivors can speak openly and find understanding.
