Medical Conditions That Can Result In Dysphagia

When someone says they have a dysphagia diagnosis, it’s important to remember that dysphagia is not actually a disease. It’s a symptom or result of a disease, condition, or injury. And as SLPs, we do need to have a thorough understanding of the causes of dysphagia so we can best help our patients get the treatment they need. But luckily, you don’t need to go to medical school to understand them all. If you’re looking for an easier way to recognize conditions that cause dysphagia, you’re going to want to keep watching! I’ll break down a few different etiologies of dysphagia into some simple, “easily digestible” categories. And if you’re looking for a way to deep-dive into the many different causes of dysphagia — you’re going to want to stick around until the end! (freebie is coming!) Watch and Enjoy!
