RECEIVE MY VIDEOS EVERY WEEK IN YOUR EMAIL https://fisioterapiatualcance.com/new... VIDEO OBJECTIVES 🧠 Understand what femoral neuralgia is, why it occurs, and how it differs from sciatica. 🦵 Learn neural gliding exercises to mobilize the femoral nerve at 3 levels of difficulty. 🔄 Improve nerve gliding within its sheath to reduce compression and adhesions. 📈 Find the level that best suits your situation and progress safely. BENEFITS OF THE EXERCISE Femoral neuralgia is the forgotten sister of sciatica. While everyone knows the pain that runs down the back of the leg, very few know that there is a similar condition that runs along the front of the thigh and the outside of the hip. An electric, dull, and constant pain that won't leave you alone. Neural gliding exercises mobilize the nerve roots that emerge in the lumbar region and run down the front of your leg. By pulling and releasing tension from both ends of the nerve, we break down adhesions, improve blood flow, and gradually reduce the pain that seems to follow you everywhere. DESCRIPTION Cruralgia (femoral pain) is caused by irritation or compression of the L2, L3, and L4 nerve roots that form the femoral nerve. These roots emerge from the lumbar spine and run down the front of the thigh to the toes. When there is any type of discopathy or lumbar problem, these nerves can become compressed, generating a sharp, electric-like pain that is difficult to pinpoint in the front and side of the thigh. The treatment we propose is based on neurodynamics, or neural gliding. The concept is simple: imagine the nerve as an electrical cable that runs from the base of the skull to the foot. This cable needs to glide freely within its sheath. When there are adhesions or inflammation, it loses this ability, and pain appears. What we do is pull on one end while releasing the other, creating a rocking motion that releases the nerve. At level 1, lie face down on the mat. Alternate between bending your knee with your toes pointed down while looking at the ceiling, and straightening your leg while rounding your neck with your chin to your chest. Each movement pulls the nerve from a different end. If you find it uncomfortable to be face down or have neck problems, skip directly to level 2. Level 2 is done standing with support from a chair. Hold your ankle with your hand and alternate the same tension: bend your knee back and look at the ceiling to pull from below, or bend your knee to your chest and tuck your chin to pull from above. This is the most comfortable and accessible variation for most people. Level 3 is the most demanding. Stand in a lunge position with your back knee resting on cushions and your foot on the sofa. From there, tilt your pelvis forward while looking at the ceiling, and then pull your groin back with your chin to your chest. The strain on the femoral nerve is much greater, so only proceed if the previous levels have been comfortable for you. It's normal to feel warmth, burning, or a slight increase in pain during the exercises. We are mobilizing an irritated nerve, and this can cause some reaction. However, if the pain is very intense or persists afterward, lower the level or reduce the repetitions. DOSAGE 🔁 Choose ONE difficulty level suited to your current situation. 📊 Perform 3 to 4 sets of 10 repetitions for each affected leg. ⏱️ Rest for 30 to 40 seconds between each set. 📅 Repeat twice a day (one set in the morning and one in the afternoon). ⚠️ If intense pain or prolonged worsening occurs, lower the level to the previous one. #cruralgia #neuralglide #thighpain #physiotherapy #femoralnerve This video is for educational and informational purposes only and does not replace evaluation or treatment by a healthcare professional. If you have a herniated disc or any other medical condition, consult a specialist before performing these exercises.
