The Revolutionary Commandos established clandestine meeting places for the members of the EMEPEDE (Members of the Revolutionary Movement), who took out the weapons they had kept from the April revolution and simply awaited the call from the military supporters of Elías Wessin y Wessin, which never came. The reasons are unknown, but there are MPD cadres and militants who have survived and should remember that planning, said Alejandro Paulino Ramos. He explained that the same plan was carried out in 1971 by the military coup leaders led by Wessin y Wessin, but with less participation from the MPD, which apparently had diminished confidence in Wessin and his group. In 1971, it is remembered that, while supporting that action, leader Roberto Figueroa, better known as Chapó, a native of San Pedro de Macorís, was killed. Paulino Ramos said that the kidnapping of Colonel Donald J. Crowley from the United States Embassy, ​​which occurred on March 24, 1970, was carried out by the Unified Anti-Reelection Command, linked to the MPD.
