Let’s Talk Minky Quilt Backs! What you need to know before you pick a quilt backing!

What you need to know before you purchase your next quilt backing! Do you love minky type fabrics for quilt backs or do you prefer traditional quilting cotton? I’m doing a show and tell of several quilts I’ve made and discussing the pros and cons of popular choices. Things to consider before going with Minky: -Size of your project. Minky is typically available in 60 inch or 90 inch wide. If your quilt top is bigger than 90 inch you can piece Minky but it will leave a ridge or a bump on the back of your quilt and it may end up quite heavy. Age of recipient. Because of its soft cuddly texture, similar to a soft stuffed animal, minky is excellent for kids and baby quilts. preferred print or color If you have a certain color in mind, you might not be able to find it in a minky type fabric. Most minky type fabrics are solids and not prints.
