Discover Comic Sans in Ghent, Belgium. Comic Sans is a geek bar located in the historic center of Ghent, Belgium. It's an hour's drive from Lille and 45 minutes from Brussels. It opened on September 17, 2016. Its discreet entrance, a simple door between other restaurants and pubs, topped with a large sign, is easy for tourists to miss, which would be a shame, because it's a fantastic place for any self-respecting geek. You enter through the TARDIS door and find yourself facing a mural featuring all the villains from the Marvel universe. The tone is set! Belgium's first geek bar! Immerse yourself in a world where comics, movies, and video games collide, while sipping Star Wars cocktails, Avengers shots, or Harry Potter Butterbeer. Every month, a themed evening is organized, and occasionally, Comic Sans offers karaoke, board game nights, workshops, competitions, geek quizzes, and podcasts. The games room is equipped with 9 beautiful pinball machines, a foosball table, a pool table, a pong table, an arcade cabinet, and in a separate room, you'll find 4 large screens, with 4 Xbox One consoles and 2 Nintendo Switch consoles. You'll also find numerous board and card games, available at any time! 200 m² of bar space for an unforgettable geek experience! Fans of specialty beers and all kinds of beverages will find, for example, the famous Butterbeer from Harry Potter, as well as numerous cocktails named after superheroes. And the icing on the cake? You can enjoy your drinks in an exact replica of the Cantina where Han Solo and Luke Skywalker first met. Since its opening, Comic Sans has become a must-visit for pinball players in Belgium. Among the country's first arcades, Comic Sans was one of the few establishments to offer more than five pinball machines when it first opened. The operator, Torius Horecaspelen, usually installs its new releases there as a preview, which explains why all tournament participants go there to familiarize themselves with the new machines. During my visit in March 2026, there were some great Stern LE pinball machines featuring all the Marvel superheroes, as well as a Cactus Canyon Remake from Chicago Gaming and a superb Harry Potter Arcade Edition. Games cost €1.50 but are played with 5 balls instead of 3, as in France. Most Stern launch events also take place there, as well as tournament qualifiers and other related events.
