Jiyu waza with 2 attackers - 自由技 - Aikido Virtual Dojo
We come back to Jiyu waza, which means "free technique" and refers to practice of defense against one or several attackers without necessarily applying a specific basic technique. This time we look at the movement with 2 attackers. Practicing with several attackers enables the improvement of spacial awareness, ma-ai (間合い) which refers to managing timing and distance. We learn also to prioritze dangers from the 2 attackers and to accept being "hit" from time to time (especially in the beginning). Dealing with several attackers puts also bigger pressure on the mind and helps us to stop thinking and start reacting "instinctively" when under attack. And, finally, since we usually don't have enough time to pull off a beautiful basic Aikido technique with one attacker before the other one comes at us, we learn to apply Aikido principles that we learned through the techniques without pulling off the techniques themselves. We will continue advancing through the different levels of jiyuwaza, so stay tuned :) Durward Burrell - 5th Dan Aikikai Marcin Hernik - 3rd Dan Aikikai ___________________________ Royalty Free Music from www.bensound.com #MartialArts #Aikido #Jiyuwaza
