Because this year, for the first time in the history of the Carnival of Cultures, two Peruvian groups marched together in the same parade. The Ballet Folklórico Perú Berlín, listed as group number 33 in the official program, made its debut at the festival. Based in the Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg district, the group not only brought together its Berlin members: for this special day, it gathered dancers and guests from Paris, Hamburg, Karlsruhe, and Spain, totaling 100 participants on stage—a remarkable number for a group making its first appearance. German television followed their performance closely. Commentators highlighted the group's energy, their elaborate and colorful costumes, and the cultural diversity of the Amazon region that was evident in each choreography.
