Hurricane Helene Devastation 2026 Update | Destroyed Buildings and Infrastructure Rebuilt?

I went back to Chuckey, Tennessee to drive the State Route 107 corridor along the Nolichucky River and see what recovery really looks like after the Hurricane Helene disaster. When Helene's flooding tore through East Tennessee, this river became a destructive force. Roads were damaged, bridges were lost, and entire parts of this corridor were changed by catastrophic flooding. Now, well after the headlines faded, I wanted to return and document what remains, what has been rebuilt, and what this landscape still says about the storm. This is not just a video about a road. It’s about the power of the Nolichucky River. It’s about the scars left behind and the community's emergency reponse. And it’s about what recovery actually looks like in a place like Chuckey, Tennessee after disaster hits. Along SR 107, you can see the evidence for yourself — rebuilt sections, altered riverbanks, fresh infrastructure, and a landscape that still carries the memory of what happened here. If you’re interested in East Tennessee, the Nolichucky River, Hurricane Helene recovery, rural America, infrastructure, forgotten stories, and real-world travel documentary storytelling, this one is for you. 📍Locations featured: Chuckey, Tennessee State Route 107 Nolichucky River corridor East Tennessee If you’ve traveled this road before, or saw this area after the flood, share what you remember in the comments.
