First time they did it live was 1993 (18 years after it appeared on an album) You can find that performance here (   • Video  ). This is one of the songs where it sounds like Gene doesn't stray far from his original bass line, probably because they don't play it much. Playing the song a lot would get tiresome, and mixing it up adds interest for the player and the audience. Since they don't play this one much, just playing the learned notes is probably easiest. I'll aslo point out that the 16th notes in bar 10 (and all the similar passages) sound right a couple different ways. I had to loop and repeat to get the pitches down. I know there's a popular tab that has 0-4-2-0-3-0-2-4, but I put down what I heard. Also, playing what that popular tab has is uncharacteristic of KISS, Gene, and that type of music, so I don't trust it. What I've tabbed out sounds right and fits his style. for songs like Got Nothin' to lose, he uses a major chord shape (like beatles and 60's music often used), which he uses for 3 on E to 2 on A to 4 on A to 5 on A, but he also uses the common pentatonic shape of 5-3-5-3 which was used much more in their later music. I found 4 live videos that are helpful for this (not unplugged). first is the one above. It helps with mostly positioning. 1:01 is where it first zooms in on Gene. You can see him move up from around 7/9 to hit the 11 in bar 6. He slides down from 9 on G, not 14 on D He also plays 16th-8th-16th-then hold. That's the Rhythm I initially thought was in bar 5, but listening closely on the track, it sounds like it's a dotted 8th- 16th - then hold, arpeggiating. I'll have to listen closer 1:47 see the start of the chorus with the arpeggiation. He really just does 8th notes between them and then moves down a whole step and does the same thing 2:41 and 2:56 You can also see gene for the quarter notes moved fret by fret down (like in bar 35) from the middle of the neck (though on the newer videos he does it with the open string)    • Video   Confirms the first video. This is from the Alive Symphony when Tommy replaced Ace. Peter is still on Drums.    • Kiss 2003 Tokyo Going Blind   From 2003. I think this is when they toured with Aerosmith. Tommy on Guitar, and at the end you can see it's Peter on Drums and not Eric Singer. Not as helpful as the others, but still good to see    • Video   Probably the most helpful video. Has a good long close up of Gene. 0:40 I like how Gene takes off the wind screen of his mic with his mouth by biting it. Not many shots of the drummer, but it looks like Eric Singer. Paul is also wearing a wig here it looks like 2:41 you can see the slide. Looks like from about fret 12 or 14 (typical of Gene) In bar 10 (first bit of the verse), the original track is different than how they play it live now Thanks for watching!
