Day 7 - Eye Surgery, Cataracts - Things You SHOULD know FIRST

Planning eye / cataracts surgery? Watch this. Several bits of information I had to learn through experience. Some things you may want to discuss with your doctor. My related article:   / my-cataract-surgery-experience-day-7-part-3     / membership   UPDATE: About a month after I made this video the doctor admitted, "I used the wrong formula for your eye" when calculating the correction. She apparently did not measure the curvature of my cornea and therefore did not to take into account my very flat cornea (I have to use 9 curvature contacts, and even those don't stay on well.) The second ophthalmologist caught that error right away. Now my problem is conflicting information. I am hearing 1) there's no low-risk way to fix it by replacement, 2) there are low risk replacements, 3) there are ways to change the correction by "piggy backing" lenses in front or behind the existing IOL (however I can't find anyone who does this). I've been told that it is possible with some risk to replace a wrong lens shortly after surgery, but after a month it has grown in place and it is very high risk to replace it. The original surgeon's reluctance to admit the problem (probably) took away my option to fix the correction issue. At this point there is no good / low risk solution. I am likely stuck with this, but frankly I'm getting conflicting information from doctors. When people are confronted by conflicting or vague information about high importance decisions, they tend to take no action. They also become unsure about what sources to trust. The good news: my distance vision is sharp, colors are brighter, and my night blindness is gone. But things did not go to plan and now everything within about 6 feet is blurry; making computers, reading, cooking, and even sports difficult without glasses. I also discuss what docotors told me about progressive lenses, what three different doctors advised about monofocal, multifocal, accommodating, and monovision IOLs, and why doing proper research before surgery is absolutely critical. If you’re considering cataract surgery, this honest first-hand account highlights lifestyle impacts, hidden trade-offs, and things you should know before making the decision.
