Guided Reading Kindergarten- Level C
During this guided reading session, the students will be working on an instructional level C book. Using Fountas and Pinnell's Literacy Continuum, they state the features of a level B text consists of two lines of print, patterned language, and supportive illustrations. Now, in my guided reading lesson, I wanted to support the students in the 'new' type of book they'll be reading (level C) by providing a little bit of a text level introduction along with supporting them with the oral language that's in the text. I felt this was important since they've been in level B for a few months now and they are used to patterned language on every page. We have been working on characters and character traits during interactive read aloud so it's always great to bring in that work during guided reading so students continuously think about, "how the character is feeling...and why? What kind of person/character is he/she?"
