H.H. Prahladananda Swami was born in 1949 in Buffalo, New York. He earned degrees in psychology and English from the University at Buffalo. In 1969, he joined ISKCON and was initiated by Srila Prabhupada. Prahladananda Swami participated in temple openings, lectured at universities, and served as temple president. In 1982, he took sannyasa and began traveling extensively around the world. In 1987, Prahladananda Swami studied Ayurveda in India. Since 1990, he has headed ISKCON's Health Department, conducting Ayurveda seminars and publishing a health magazine. In 1991, he also became the Minister of Sannyasa in ISKCON.
