क्या आधी बचेदानी में Pregnancy संभव है ? | Unicornuate Uterus | Dr Payal Bajaj | Nandi IVF
A unicornuate uterus is a rare genetic condition that causes a person to have one half of a uterus, with the other half reabsorbed by the body. It's also known as a "single-horned uterus" or "banana-shaped uterus". The condition is caused by the incomplete development of one of the Müllerian ducts. So picture this: a unicornuate uterus is like having half of a regular uterus. It's kind of like having a "single-horned uterus" or one that's shaped like a banana. This happens because one part of the uterus didn't fully develop, leaving it smaller than usual. Instead of having two fallopian tubes, there's only one working tube. Sometimes, there's even a tiny bit left over from the underdeveloped side, called a hemi-uterus. Now, here's where it gets tricky: if that extra bit isn't connected, it can cause some discomfort during periods because blood can't flow out properly. Now, the good news is, having a unicornuate uterus doesn't typically mess with your overall health. But when it comes to having a baby, there are some things to keep in mind. For instance, there's a higher chance of the baby being in a breech position, which might mean needing a cesarean delivery. Plus, there's a bit of a higher risk for certain pregnancy complications like placenta previa or preterm birth. If someone has a unicornuate uterus but isn't having any issues, no treatment is necessary. However, if they want to get pregnant, they might need some extra monitoring and possibly a cesarean section. Doctors can use imaging tests like ultrasounds to check out the uterus and see if it's unicornuate.
