The secret courtyards of central Moscow, the arcades, arches, and the hidden underbelly of old buildings—I reveal an unknown Moscow that's easy to miss. In this video, I walk through central Moscow, revealing hidden courtyards, arches, and buildings from different eras. This is a route through the city where ordinary facades reveal entirely different spaces. Rare arcades—outdoor residential galleries of old buildings where life was literally in plain sight—have been preserved here. Narrow apartment buildings a few meters wide, merchant estates, and courtyards that have survived several eras of the city. We walk through arches and discover different layers of Moscow: from pre-revolutionary buildings to Soviet reconstructions. Some are quiet residential courtyards, others are almost forgotten architectural fragments of the old center. This is a walk through Moscow that is often overlooked. The city exists right behind the facades, and in this video I show its hidden side.
