Trump makes 'great settlement' with Iran, 'pretty confident' peace deal will be done in a few days

President Donald Trump said he is "pretty confident" the United States is close to reaching a deal with Iran to end the war between the two countries, adding a formal agreement might be signed within days. Trump said the documents are almost finished and the agreement should be made "pretty quickly." He also said Iran wants the deal "every bit as much as everybody else wants it." Trump's comments came after three days of attacks, as well as several weeks of diplomatic efforts aimed at ending hostilities and securing commitments from Tehran on multiple issues, including its nuclear program and maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz, which is a vital shipping route for global energy supplies. Trump said the agreement would ensure Iran does not obtain a nuclear weapon and described the deal as being in its final stages. Iran has not publicly confirmed Trump's announcement. Iranian officials have previously acknowledged progress in negotiations, while cautioning that significant issues remained unresolved and that no final agreement had yet been reached.
