Through a live staging of Gomez’s 10-minute play, Project Potential, this workshop will demonstrate the presentation of Audio Description, American Sign Language (ASL) Interpretation, Open Captioning and Relaxed performance. Following a performance of the play, members of the creative, production, access and audience teams will discuss the fundamentals employed in each accessible service – occasionally doing a live rewind with the actors to illustrate. Following this two-hour session, attendees will be invited to participate in an optional Q + A with the entire team. 00:01:37 ASL vs captioning for live performance. 00:03:34 Importance of ASL Masters and Certified Deaf Interpreters in the process. 00:06:43 Lighting and visibility of the ASL interpreter. 00:09:05 Casting ASL interpreters. 00:12:53 Demonstration of interpreter placement, both good and bad.
