VVT Solenoid Valve - Removal and Cleaning

How to remove, clean and replace the Variable Valve Timing (VVT) solenoid on a 2006 to 2013 Nissan Note E11 with the 1.4 litre petrol engine. If this unit gets clogged up or stops working properly it can cause the following problems: • Difficulty starting • Rough Idle • Poor engine acceleration • Poor engine performance • Excessive fuel consumption • Check engine light • Increased engine noise (especially when accelerating) • Misfire when accelerating You may also get a check engine light caused by a P0011 code. It’s worth cleaning this solenoid first, to see if it will fix the issue. It is recommended that you clean the valve using an EGR & Carb cleaner.
