mrfett's 1982 Gibson Firebird II Artist CMT Review

This guitar is for sale here: http://rvrb.io/1982-firebird-ii-a-ixw Quick (for me) review of a 1982 Gibson Firebird II Artist CMT. These are pretty rare guitars, with reports of only ~160 having been made (http://forum.gibson.com/index.php?/to.... They came in Antique Sunburst and Antique Fireburst (this one is a Sunburst), with the Fireburst seeming a bit more rare. This one is in fantastic shape, apparently owned by a music store owner who squirreled it away. Thankfully all the original Moog electronics are here, with the built-in boost and compression/expansion circuit. It's the same system the Gibson RD Artist had, although the switching between different years/models changes a bit. It requires a 9V battery. 1 piece maple top, maple body and 3 piece maple neck. Series IV low impedance humbuckers, TP-6 fine-tune tailpiece. Honestly it's not the most lovely clean tone, although maybe I'll demo that at some point. Here I'm playing through an effects chain that I've been working with for a song I'm recording: Digitech Whammy V5, ARC Effects Klone V2, Maestro PS-1A, Catalinbread RAH, Electro-Harmonix Deluxe Memory Man Tap Tempo 1100, Radial ToneBone Twin City Active ABY into a '65 Fender Vibrolux Reverb and a Sound City Concord. Just the camera mic. A more extensive writeup and some pretty pictures can be found here: http://www.mylespaul.com/forums/other...
