This is a beautiful way to turn a vase into a handmade gift. And it's so easy! We'll show you how. We just discovered how fun and easy marbling is. You simply drizzle paints onto water and drag items through the paint. What kind of paint you ask? Well, we tried it with nail polish from the dollar store and got gorgeous results! How To Marble With Nail Polish Materials & Tools Ceramic vase, white (So the marbled colors show!) Disposable plastic container (You need this to be deep enough to dip half your vase.) Nail polish, various colors and gold Wooden craft sticks Toothpicks Paper towels Steps 1. Fill The Tub With Water Fill a plastic tub with tap water. Hold your vase up to the side of the water to make sure it is deep enough. You want to be able to dip the vase into the water without touching the bottom of the tub. 2. Do A Test Run We did a few test runs to get a feel for how much paint to drip, how much to swirl, and how fast to work. Drizzle one color of nail polish onto the water. Drizzle a second color. Then drizzle a little gold. We limited our colors to three at a time so the colors wouldn't look muddy. 3. Swirl The Paint Using a toothpick, make swirling motions in the paint two or three times. You don't want to mix the colors together too much. Just drag the colors by each other. 4. Test With A Craft Stick Test the colors by dipping a craft stick into the tub. Try dipping straight in and straight out. This worked best for us. 5. Clean The Water To clean the water before your next set of colors, drag a paper towel through the water. It will pick up any unused colors floating on the surface. 6. Drizzle Paints On Water To marble the vase, drizzle the colors one by one onto the water surface. 7. Swirl With A Toothpick Use a toothpick to swirl the colors together. 8. Dip Your Vase Hold the vase by the top lip and dunk it into the water. Be careful not to touch the bottom of the tub. Pull the vase straight out. Turn upside down to dry. We love to marble with nail polish! Have you ever tried this? Did you use nail polish? If you have any tips or tricks to share, leave us a comment! Happy Crafting, Jennifer and Kitty Want to see more of our craft how to videos?
