Big, Beautiful and Endangered: Birdwing Butterflies

These beautiful big butterflies are part of the Parrott Collection, named after butterfly enthusiast and citizen scientist Rodney Parrott. In this collection are rare specimens of gynandromorphs, which means that they have both male and female characteristics. This collection is especially important because it documents species from Southeast Asia, where loss of habitat is widespread. The video is part of a multi-episode virtual open-house series.
