"For years, people have said to me, 'You are so much like Billie Holiday'. My response has been 'No, I am because of Billie.' Her generation sacrificed for my privilege and I am honor-bound to them." As a result, the Canadian singer will donate a portion of album sales to programs for underprivileged youth and families, and is creating the Billie Holiday Foundation. Full of life and enthusiasm, she's been treating her audience for years with a great repertoire of mostly jazzy but sometimes pop songs. Here, accompanied by Mike Downes (double bass) and Robi Botos (piano) she interprets us 'Summertime', taken from her album 'Another Day', a reinvention of the original title by Billie Holiday, in a version full of complicity: she plays with the music and the jazzy groove with off-putting simplicity.
