Hello mga #KATABLE! Most OFWs are stuck in the countries they’re based in this year. Most likely, they won’t be able to fly back home to the Philippines to be with their families this Christmas. One of the most common things Overseas Filipino Workers do is to send a balikbayan box to the Philippines instead. This is exactly what we did. For our non-filipino friends, a balikbayan box is where Filipinos who are based overseas put an assortment of things to send back to their loved ones in the Philippines. For us, it’s not just a symbol of love, but also (especially for most) an expression of “i miss you’s” and “wish we were there’s”. A balikbayan box isn’t just a box of things for our families to enjoy. It’s a box filled with love, blood, and sweat that we, as OFWs, are willing to share with our loved ones whom we couldn’t hug or kiss.
