It has been said that Feather and Derby blades may be too harsh on the first use. This can be done with just about any DE - Double Edge razor blade, before or after the shave. Grab your blade of choice and a cork and follow along to see if this tip makes that first shave as comfortable as the second and third shaves. Some say running the blade edge through cork, a packing peanut, or a chunk of styrofoam, will also extend blade life and longevity. After corking a blade, can you can get 5-6-7 or even 8 shaves out of it? Geo demonstrates how to do it using the wrapper for finger protection and corking one side of the blade, then the other.
