Traditionally, Rolexes came in one of two formats - the precious metal, dressy pieces that are most at home in the office, and the steel sport models that were designed to be used as tools. That all changed with the reference 1680, a Submariner in yellow gold. However, this shift towards a visual more resembling "richness" than "toolishness" has stuck with the brand since. First up, we have the new Everose GMT Master II "Root Beer." Technically, the watch is not a direct follow up to the original Root Beer GMT as we've come to know it -- the colors are certainly darker and less pronounced, the the original was never produced in pink/rose gold. However, the DNA of using brown on a precious metal GMT is apparent. Next up, we have the Rolex Smurf, a white gold Submariner with a blue dial and ceramic bezel. Introduced in 2008, the watch is absolute stealth wealth in every considerable way. The metal is technically referred to as "grey gold," rather than white gold, and it's a difficult difference to quantify unless you get a chance to see it in person. Finally, we have the yellow gold Submariner Date, a similar enough watch in principle that somehow manages to stand out even more than the other watches on this list because of the inherently blingy nature of yellow gold. What's funny, though, is the fact that this watch is also the cheapest of the three on the list (not to say it's cheap, of course, at $35k or so).
