In this video, I break down the DePuy Synthes ATTUNE Total Knee System step by step so that as a surgical technologist, you can walk into the room feeling more confident and prepared to scrub this case. After reviewing this video a few times and getting your hands on the instruments before the case begins, you’ll start becoming much more comfortable assembling the cutting jigs, understanding the workflow, writing down the steps for yourself, and learning your surgeon’s preferences alongside the techs at your facility who already scrub these procedures regularly. Once you combine all of those things together, these cases become much easier and far less intimidating. Nothing in life is necessarily difficult. A lot of it just comes down to repetition, practice, and becoming familiar with the instruments and steps. This video is more of a crash course covering the general steps and instrumentation used during an ATTUNE total knee. There are still deeper topics we can get into later, including retractors, surgeon technique preferences, and the technical reasoning behind why certain instruments are used throughout the procedure. In a future video, we can even break down the actual surgical technique PDF guide together and go much more in depth.
