No drinking while standing, no removing masks to kiss, no dancing on the bar... For many Nîmes bar owners, the Feria des Vendanges is anything but a feria. With the health crisis far from over, COVID-19 is here to disrupt the fun. The prefect, Didier Lauga, had spoken of a "light" feria, but for business owners, it will be worse than a watered-down feria. Some bar owners fear it, unwilling to police their establishments to enforce safety regulations. Others would be tempted to flout the law by adding a zinc bar in the corner of their sign... And finally, there are those who are more rigorous and have no other choice but to remove their bar in favor of seating. Clearly, the 2020 Feria des Vendanges is not a feria for our business owners, who are banking, with hope, on 2021.
