TV presenters Colin McAllister and Justin Ryan are best known for telling us how to decorate our homes but in 2021 they took on a project bigger than anything they've ever attempted – renovating a hotel and restaurant complex on the wild Atlantic coast in Canada. They're two months in and winter is coming. Their next big project is to turn the old laundry building into two luxury suites. After deliberating whether to do it, they take the plunge. But as work starts, the builders discover really bad rot in all the joists supporting building and much of the ground floor. It will cost thousands of pounds to put right putting Colin and Justin into a bigger dilemma as their budget spirals out of control. The restaurant build is under way despite the escalating costs. Now they are looking for a chef to run it and try out David who has been working in pest control since he lost his cheffing job in the pandemic. David impresses them both cooking a series of dishes as suggestions for a new menu for the restaurant and despite having doubts about the costs of each dish, they decide to take him on. They are also renovating the reception. They want to make it brighter and more welcoming and have a gift shop in it to sell merchandise and they visit a local sawmill to find timber shelves made from wood in the surrounding forest.
