A New Battery & The 4 Factors That Made Our Decision!

In todays video we talk about our biggest purchase to date for our 2019 GeoPro 19FBS - a Renogy 100AH Smart Lithium Battery. We purchased the battery late last spring/early summer and have been trying it out for the last 7 months. We have been very pleased with the battery and are happy that we went with lithium. In this video we talk about the 4 factors that went into our decision and why we switched from our original plan to purchase flooded lead acid. Those 4 factors were need, weight, ease of install or upgrades needed and price. And each of them were pointing us towards lithium being the best decision for us. For the calculation of how many amp hours we needed we looked at running a couple of lights in the evening, water pump when needed for water, charging a few phones or ipad overnight, the fridge on propane (we do not have a 12V but a propane/electric so it uses less amps) and the heater at a low temperature (we usually set the heat to around 45 at night so it doesn't kick on and off) In an upcoming video we will go into more detail on the Renogy battery including some of the features we like and show you some of the gadgets that we have bought for it. Plus, we are looking to make some additional upgrades this year including a new MPPT controller and additional solar panels. We did mention we put an older flooded lead acid battery into the camper while in storage. The main reason we do that is because we are constantly at the camper filming and use the lights, etc so didn't want to have to install and pull the lithium battery every time we went to the camper. So for us, we just leave the older flooded battery in it and keep our lithium at home. If we move the lithium inside the camper at some point, we will likely leave it there. (flooded lead acid can not be stored inside) We tried to hit the high points in this video to keep it to a reasonable length so you may have some questions!
