U18 Pole France Insep Paris used a dominant second quarter as the platform to emphatically down U18 Panathinaikos Athens, 102-77, condemning the host to a disappointing start in the adidas NextGen EuroLeague Finals. Yael Masdieu-Reynaert inspired INSEP with an outstanding all-round performance of 19 points, 9 assists, 7 rebounds and 4 steals. Nateo Gabriel Des Bordes netted 6 three-pointers for his total of 18 points, Brandon Muela and scored 11 while Messi Yangala and Keny Vado had 10 points apiece in a balanced offensive effort yielding 28 assists. The brilliant Felipe Quinones powered Panathinaikos with 29 points, 9 assists and 8 rebounds, but Giorgios Giantsidis was the Greens’ only other double-digit scorer with 10. Quinones shined with 8 early points as Panathinaikos took control, but INSEP rallied to enjoy a 19-17 edge at the end of the first. The margin grew with an 11-0 run early in the second quarter, and another 10-1 tear helped establish a 50-30 halftime advantage. Des Bordes sank a pair of triples in a 12-2 run to start the third quarter, putting the outcome beyond doubt. INSEP took a 75-51 lead into the final frame, and the French team kept piling on the points to secure a big win.
