Record). This was the third edition of this unusual trophy, in which I invented the categories myself, but paid truly honest and sincere tributes to the artists who made a difference in our music. In this edition, the only one recorded in São Paulo, at the now-defunct Tom Jazz, I brought together 12 artists and a five-piece band, led by guitarist ROVILSON PASCOAL. Among the guest artists, I facilitated the meeting of ANGELA MARIA with TETÊ ESPÍNDOLA. Together they performed "Garota Solitária" (Lonely Girl), a cha-cha-cha song by Adelino Moreira, a big hit for Sapoti in 1962, which Tetê re-recorded on the CD "Anahí" with her sister Alzira Espíndola in 1998. This entirely independent show required a collective effort, in which everyone – artists and technical team – got involved for the pure pleasure of seeing such beloved figures from such distinct musical universes on stage, figures who helped tell the story of Brazilian music, such as ANGELA MARIA (1929-2019), CAUBY PEIXOTO (1931-2016), CLAUDETTE SOARES, INEZITA BARROSO (1925-2015), VANUSA (1947-2020), MARIA ALCINA, GABY AMARANTOS, TETÊ ESPÍNDOLA, EDY STAR, and younger artists like PAULO PADILHA. Brazilian Popular Music (MPB); rapper FLÁVIO RENEGADO and rocker MARÍLIA BESSY, who at the time was preparing a show with Ney Matogrosso, which I also directed.
