Stormwater Fundamentals Series - Stormwater Harvesting

This webinar, held on 11th March 2026, was session #3 of the 2026 ‘Stormwater Fundamentals’ series, and focussed on stormwater harvesting. As we know Australia is the land of droughts and flooding rains. We need to prepare for both. The community has a high level of support for stormwater harvesting. As such, most Councils and many other private organisations are looking to put stormwater harvesting projects into place - so when the next drought hits, they can still water their golf courses, parks and playing fields. This webinar, presented by Optimal Stormwater’s Murray Powell focussed on each of the core elements. Whilst every scheme will be slightly different, the webinar covers the key things everyone needs to know, including: • Catchment, water supply, water demand and water storage. • Offtakes and primary treatment • Pumpwells, pumps, power v gravity. • Treatment processes • Storage volumes and options: tanks, crates, arches, above or below ground, or open ponds – we’ll discuss the pros and cons The webinar included a short presentation by Optimal Stormwater’s Murray Powell, followed by Q&A with Ocean Protect’s Michael Wicks and attendees.
