#MT44 Part 1 - Hoglet V-twin IC Engine. Making the Crankcase. In 4K/UHD by Andrew Whale.
Making a Hoglet V-twin Engine....... In this video, part 1 of the series, I make the crankcase. You can purchase the plans for this engine from modelenginebuilder.com The magazines are a convenient digital download. The Hoglet build is covered in issues #10 & #11 and only cost $6.00 (US) each. This works out at around UK£4.00 - a bargain! I hope some of you will have a go at building this engine too. Since making the Odd n Ends Engine, Earl has now completed his build. YouTube videos of his engine can be seen at: • Odds and Ends Engine designed by Phillip D... • Odds and Ends Engine designed by Phillip D... In this video I substituted the oilite bearings (as detailed in the drawing) with ball bearings. However, I later replace these with the recommended oilite bearings and explain this at the beginning of Part 7 video. However, details of the bearings I used in this video are as follows.... Purchased from Bearingboys in the UK - all Imperial Open Ball Bearings Main bearings x 2 KLNJ3/8 ID=9.52mm(0.375") OD=22.23mm(0.875") WIDTH=0.2175" Rear Camshaft x 1 KLNJ1/4 ID=6.35mm(0.25") OD=19.05mm(0.75") WIDTH=0.2175" Front Camshaft x 1 R4 ID=6.35mm(0.25") OD=15.88mm(0.625") WIDTH=0.197" The bronze bushes in the drawing are wider, so I think I will have to make some bronze spacers at some point.
