Black Canyon Lake is a difficult, off-trail destination in the Beartooth Mountains of Montana. It is one of the most eye-catching alpine lakes in the mountain range and definitely worth the effort for any adventure-seeker. Be prepared for an easy stroll along the mesmerizing Rock Creek. The real fun begins after peeling off into the woods for some wonderful bushwhacking. Continue on through the labyrinth of falling trees to the never ending boulder field. Do not to give up. Use the energy from the thousand foot vistas that surround you in order to power your up to the glorious view that awaits.
