Do we know how our brain works? Do we know why most people fall into addiction at some point in their lives? Well, we're about to find out! Dr. Marta Ruipérez Alonso earned her experimental master's degree in neurobiology from the University of Amsterdam in the Netherlands and subsequently her PhD in neuroscience research from the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, specializing in neuroelectrophysiology (the brain's electrical signals). Since 2017, she has dedicated herself to science communication because she believes that science should be accessible to everyone and that, however complex it may be, it can always be explained in an engaging, simple, and understandable way for all audiences. She teaches the "Discovering the Brain" courses in the UNED senior program in Dénia and collaborates with various UPCAs (addictive behavior prevention units), disseminating information about the effects of different stimuli and addictive substances on the brain. Marta's passion is sharing her knowledge about how the brain works. Understanding how our brain works is key to understanding ourselves and others.
