Webinar "Guía para sistemas de saneamiento y depuración en pequeñas aglomeraciones urbanas"

Yesterday afternoon, February 9th, at 4:30 PM (Spanish time), a new technical webinar was held, organized by AEOPAS (Spanish Association of Public Water Supply and Sanitation Operators). The webinar analyzed in detail the objectives of the project to draft the “Guide for the Design, Processing, and Implementation of Wastewater Treatment and Sanitation Systems in Urban Areas with Fewer Than 5,000 Population-Early).” During the session, the focus was on the need for a reference document to help local authorities and public operators plan and implement sanitation and wastewater treatment solutions adapted to small population centers, aligned with the current regulatory framework and technical and economic challenges. The event was attended by 777 registered professionals from Spain, Portugal, and Latin America. Guide Content and Focus The guide will offer a comprehensive and practical overview of urban water systems, addressing: The European, national, and regional regulatory framework applicable to small urban areas. The technical criteria for selecting wastewater treatment technologies, with special attention to nature-based solutions and low-energy systems. The protection of the receiving environment, discharge criteria, and the consideration of sensitive areas. The estimation of investment and operating costs, as a key tool for municipal planning and transparency. Organizational recommendations and management models adapted to small municipalities. Funding This activity is part of the project “Guide for the Design and Maintenance of Urban Wastewater Treatment and Sanitation Systems in Areas with Fewer Than 5,000 Population-Equivalents” within the framework of the European project “NOPLANETB,” implemented in Spain by the Andalusian Fund of Municipalities for International Solidarity (FAMSI) and co-financed by the Provincial Council of Seville as a FAMSI partner and the European Union.
