Regular VS Irregular Plurals in English | Basic Irregular Plural Nouns and Grammar Rules + QUIZ

Learn how to form regular vs. irregular plurals in English grammar in this basic lesson for beginners. I'll teach you how to form regular plural nouns in English by adding -s, -es, -ies, or -ves, depending on the singular noun. I'll also discuss irregular plural nouns and plurals that do not change. Singular nouns refer to just one person, place, thing, or idea. (Example: dog, hat, animal, book) Plural Nouns refer to two or more persons, places, things, or ideas. (Example: dogs, hats, animals, books) There are many types of irregular plurals, but they do not follow the standard rules in English (just add -s or -es). One of the most common irregular plurals are words that end in "f" or "fe." The "f" changes to "v" and -es is added. (Example: knife/knives, leaf/leaves, wolf/wolves) Plural nouns ending in -o are usually made by adding -es (tomato/tomatoes, potato/potatoes) Some plural nouns don't follow any particular rule, so they require memorization. (man/men, woman/women, child/children) Some plural nouns don't change at all!
