TRIBE SESSIONS: MORDECAI DEX

Few artists can claim to have shaped a sound while still actively redefining it. Mordecai Dex is undeniably one of them. First breaking into the national consciousness as the unmistakable leading voice behind H_art the Band and their runaway hit “Uliza Kiatu,” Mordecai quickly evolved into more than just a frontman, he became a force. Since then, his pen has quietly but powerfully written its way through the Kenyan music industry, crafting standout records for some of the country’s biggest acts including Wanavokali, Njerae, Bensoul, and many more. Never one to stand still, he’s continued to evolve, most recently as a solo act with two projects under his belt and as part of the chart-topping artist collective Kodong Klan, further cementing his place at the heart of Kenya’s contemporary sound. On this Tribe Sessions stage, Mordecai arrives armed with only his voice and his guitar, as both artist and architect. A living jukebox of chart-toppers, he moves seamlessly between eras of his career, blending old favourites with newer cuts; each delivered with the signature emotion, control, and musical acumen that have defined his journey. This sessions serves as a living catalogue, a legacy in motion. This is Mordecai Dex.
