vPub Live - Whisky 'Collections' 2026 Edition

There’s an anonymous poll to help on this one, if you like, fill it out, it should just take a moment but be as honest as you can fill out the poll here https://forms.gle/N7EDHnmZnrFqbHXx8 In our pursuit of flavour and variety, over accumulation is an inevitable part of our whisky passion. For some it brings excitement and joy, for others it can turn into anxieties that force hard stops and bottle bans. Sometimes, if we’re not careful, it can taint our enjoyment. Eventually, most of us face the fall out of buying too much. Every now and then, we do a session where we monitor the sizes of our whisky selections, and on occasion, we may feel like sharing. Perhaps some of us might call it ‘confessing’. The last time we covered this issue was early 2025. I ‘confessed’ that I had 715 open bottles of whisky and 200 open with a run rate of 14 bottles per month accumulated. This is not typical, it’s a product of my job - and my passion for it. But of course, it hasn’t stopped since then. Yes, this week I’ll confess a few things: how many I have today and I’ll also update my five ‘guiltiest pleasures’, that is, those that I’ve collected the most of, by distillery. Last year Loch Lomond topped that list, I wonder how it will be this time around. If you like, contribute and see how you fare against your fellow whisky botherers. https://forms.gle/N7EDHnmZnrFqbHXx8 I’ll share all this week. 0:00 - Opening 2:26 - Brief overview of topic 9:12 - Welcoming in The Lounge 16:39 - In the glass: Kilkerran WH 2006-2024 23:11 - Collections - scale, habit & intent - how we got here 52:21 - Ardnahoe Fèis Ìle Release 2026 1:02:18 - Where we're at today - journeys and habits 1:16:14 - Thompson Bros TB/BSW 9yo Final Release 1:24:50 - Looking ahead - where we're going with collections 1:41:55 - Distractions - Cadenhead's Bowmore 20yo 1:50:41 - Confession time: our Top 5 for 'hoarding' 2:00:22 - Opening a Springbank hand-fill (demijohn) 2:10:40 - The vPub collection/selection size 2:22:40 - Quiz at the End
