Young Kerala man’s organs allegedly illegally transplanted by hospital | Organ donation row | Abin

In 2009, 18-year-old VJ Abin and his elder brother VJ Bipin met with an accident near Kothamangalam in Ernakulam district. He was taken to Mar Baselios Medical Mission hospital and later referred to Lakeshore hospital Kochi. From there he was declared brain dead and his organs were harvested and donated. Recently, it came to light that a crucial test to determine whether he was brain dead was not done by doctors at Lakeshore hospital. A lower court in the state had recently summoned eight doctors in this case.
